Welcome to the Panbo Marine Technology Forums.
DSC got teeth for the small sailboat, where ais powering-receiving-processing-alerting-displaying all happens in one faraday cage presenting to the sailor a single button dsc callback. The electrostatic-sea is at odds with nmea-wifi-ble-usb-cell-ant-wire-etc., lightning is karma, so stateoftheart practice for life-threat avoidance remains (always has been) two faraday units in fail-safe & third unit in the static bag (gps, ais, etc.), if you care about your loved ones open-ocean. What will be ‘core’ to next-gen sailor will be a manual on-off ais screen added to the handheld dsc vhf radio, approx $330 price point (three on board). Just lobbying, cuz the dsc handheld is the most advanced technology & ethic yet for serious rescue, and the golden-rule towards our large ship friends who are tired of the ais spectrum being drowned out by undangerous transponder egos. Don’t make me bitch slap your yacht....(quote from average freighter!)
