Carling Technologies introduces new digital switching platform

MPower Enables Onboard and Remote Monitoring and Controlof Electrical Systems

Carling Technologies is pleased to announce the launch of MPower, a digital switching platform that delivers simple, intuitive control over the increasingly complex systems found on today’s vessels. “MPower is a scalable and programmable solution targeted to all segments of the recreational marine market–from smaller vessels to large boats with multiple helms,” Frank Emnett, Vice President Software, Monitoring & Control Systems said in a statement.

The modular nature of the MPower system simplifies installation and redefines the future of vessel automation for boat builders and technical installers. Consumers benefit from the simple elegance of an uncluttered and integrated helm as well as increased control and monitoring of onboard electrical and electronic systems including lighting, security systems, bilge pumps, etc. Critical alarms are delivered through mobile devices wherever there is network connectivity, providing boaters with the ability to take immediate action both onboard and remotely. “MPower is truly an evolution in technology that creates the intelligent boating experience that today’s consumers are demanding. As part of the Carling family, with 100 years of expertise in switches and circuit protection, Maretron customers have the added bonus of a global network of sales and support,” added Emnett.

The new MPower platform is comprised of 12-Channel and 16-Channel DC Load Controller Modules, Contura 6-Rocker Digital Switch Modules, 12-Button Customizable Keypads and a 12-Channel Optional Bypass Module. MPower allows circuits to be paralleled and offers Ignition Protection. All MPower components connect directly to the NMEA 2000 network, allowing circuit breakers to be controlled, monitored or reset from various electronics including the Maretron MBB300C Black Box, Maretron DSM Color Displays, the TSM810C Dedicated Maretron Touchscreen, Garmin OneHelm or any device running Maretron’s award-winning N2KView V3 software.

“Building on the legacy of Maretron’s reputation as the NMEA 2000 experts, we offer valuable award-winning software to help OEMs and dealers build, design and analyze MPower network solutions,” added Emnett. Maretron N2KBuilder- V3 is a free, powerful PC-based software used to plan, document, and validate the design of complex NMEA 2000 networks. N2KAnalyzer-V3 is a Maretron software tool that provides a detailed view of all the devices on a NMEA 2000 network and lets you perform a variety of configuration, updating, and troubleshooting tasks.

“The launch of our new digital switching platform makes Carling Technologies a complete resource for our customers, from cables & connectors to complete vessel monitoring & control solutions,” Emnett adds. Synonymous with innovation and quality, Carling plans to continue to expand vessel monitoring and control through new product introductions, constant improvements and upgrades of current products and software. MPower Launch

I first tested most of the MPower components in April 2019…

…so I was hoping it would become available to technical installers sooner. But that means the gear has had a lot more time in use on new boats, and Maretron also added the even more sophisticated CMLD16 controller. Note that MPower is still not available at retail level, but Gemeco is excited about it and you probably know an installer using that source:
