Welcome to the Panbo Marine Technology Forums.
I’m thinking about adding a GPS compass to my 32’ racer-cruiser sailboat over the winter. The two short list options are a Furuno SCX-20 and Simrad HS75. However, I’m having a hard time making an apples-to-apples comparison between them. In most respects the SCX-20 seems like a superior device; however, it costs half what the HS75 does. My best guess is that the price difference has to do with the integrated gyro in the HS75, but as I said, that’s a guess.
Can anyone help me understand the differences between these devices and their likely performance? For what it’s worth most of the electronics on my boat are B&G (Novico) but my understanding is that brand shouldn’t matter too much here.
