I purchased the ULP sensor last summer and installed it at my masthead during fall lay-up.  After commissioning this spring, I ran cable from the mast step to my NAV station and have been trying to get the Calypso meter connected to my Actisense NGW-1 to be able to convert the Calypso NMEA data into NMEA 2000.

The Calypso documentation says that the data format is "RS485/NMEA 0183".  There is a Power (+) wire, a GND (-), a Data (+) and a Data (-) wire coming from the Calypso.  The NGW-1 has Tx +, Tx -, Rx + and Rx -.  No one at either Actisense nor Calypso has been able to tell me how the wind instrument should be connected, with the result that it is sitting there useless.  At this point I am pretty confident that either Ben or someone on the Forum knows more about this than any of the support people with whom I've communicated...I have spent so many hours and days trying to get answers from England and Spain, and really hope someone will have the answer.

I bought the Calypso largely based on Ben's evaluation on Panbo, so I am hoping that his evaluation process plus his knowledge of the various data protocols will help me with an answer.

Thanks very much

I realize now that there is a Ben Stein as well as Ben Ellison...a few years ago Ben Ellison was very helpful with some issues I was having, and since he authored the Forum post on the Calypso anemometer, I was hoping I could contact him for advice, but the emails with his email address have been lost...can anyone put me in contact with him, please?

I heard Calypso has a US presence starting up with a representative in Florida.
