Why do my posts keep getting censored here? Very strange given their vanilla content. Anyhow, I would agree that other countries are not going to follow suite with releasing charts any time soon, if ever. It’s sad, but I think too many countries, Britain in particular, are unwilling in general to give up what seem to be good revenue sources

Good question, Eli. We have installed some anti-spam comment filtering, but real posters like you should be getting a pass. I’ll look into it. And you’re right, I hear that the Brits in particular are looking to make their survey offices at least self sufficient if not profitable.

Anyone think I should hold off on buying the Garmin BlueCharts for a while based on this change?

Went to OCS website. Nothing in news releases there. Given what Santorum is trying to do with weather information, this sounds like a short lived good deal.

Good News for US boaters. Those of us operating in the the third world need charts for the rest of the planet’s water, AND I dream of an affordable, worldwide, satellite based broadband internet access that I can fit on a 45′ yacht.
I’m thinking of buying a system for Shin Satellite and offering WI-FI ISP services to other boats in whatever harbor I happen to be in.
