This is a job for a small fleet of robots, or should I say roboats; well marked, and quiet running that don’t need lunch breaks, health benefits and motel rooms! They might even be trained to come home to the trailer to recharge!

Not hard to guess which one is Gizmo !
Is there still going to be a big Gizmo ?

Ben how is this different from Nobeltec’s Bathyrecord feature?

Ben, what type of GPS/performance was used in the survey? Standard (w. WAAS), DGPS or RTK?

Per, Navionics uses different equipment for different survey situations, but that’s about all I can say at the moment.
Lee, There are several applications like Nobeltec’s Bathyrecorder that can collect and display depth data points. The unique thing about this Navionics program is that they have developed a fairly efficient system to collect large quantities of data and get it from raw form to map cards, downloadable formats, and even printed maps.

The data plots thicken! It turns out that Tim Thurston of Maine Lake Charts also did a high res survey of Megunticook this year, and is preparing the data for paper publishing. He’d like to license it to electronic chart manufacturers too. I’m planning to visit his “chart lab” soon.
