DBMIBS 2025: FLIR Ocean Scout Pro

I’m trying something a little different for my coverage of this year’s Miami show. I am going to try and produce a series of short videos with company representatives introducing their products. First up is FLIR’s Ocean Scout Pro thermal monocular. FLIR’s Jim McGowan gives us an overview of the new thermal scope.
I’ve gotten my hands on the Ocean Scout Pro for a few minutes. A quick look through the viewfinder reminds me of how much of an impact higher resolution — like the Ocean Scout Pro’s 640 by 480 pixels — matters with thermal sensors. I realize that $2,400 might not sound like a bargain, but for a thermal monocular with this resolution, it is.
The Ocean Scout Pro has WiFi and Bluetooth built in for connection to mobile devices. The iOS app is out and available in the app store. The Android app should be available soon. As soon as the Android app is released, Raymarine will add it to the LightHouse Apps so that it can be downloaded on to Raymarine MFDs running LightHouse 4. The Ocean Scout Pro app running on an Axiom will give boaters the opportunity to use their MFD to display the thermal monocular’s output on a nice big display.
I should be getting a review sample soon and will be able to report more in depth on the Ocean Scout Pro. Until then, hopefully this video helps get you familiar it.
