Welcome to the Marine Electronics Forums presented by Panbo and SeaBits.
Long-time Panbo reader, first-time poster: I need advice on connecting a pair of 2011 Volvo Penta D12s to my N2K network using a Yacht Devices YDEG-04 engine gateway.
I have EVC-D engine controllers and EVC-C3 helm controllers. I thought I could just unplug the yellow Multilink cable from one of the EVC-C3s at the helm, and insert the YDEG. When I do that, I get a red LED then green LED -- meaning there's no data from the engine, but the N2K connection is okay. I tried a few other insertion points with the same result.
I'm a long-time boat geek, but it's a new-to-me boat and I have no experience with Volvos.
The N2K network works; I can see tank level data on my laptop via a YDEN ethernet gateway.
Hi Chris,
Can you send an email to [email protected] with your engine serial numbers? Also, if you could either include pictures of where you’ve connected in the email or reply to this thread with those pictures, that would be great.

Hi Ben -- serial numbers and photo sent. The vessel is my Forever Boat: a 2011 Maritimo A50 enclosed flybridge.
I couldn't find a way to post the photo here, but it's a yellow plug on the HCU marked "Multilink". Tried it on both of the HCUs. I also tried a couple other Multilink cables (which I haven't started mapping out yet).
I have big plans for this network. Engines, genny, tanks, batteries, and any other component that I can convince to share its data. All will end up on a big touchscreen running Maretron N2KView in a yet-to-be-designed glass helm.
It's the start of a long project, and I'm grateful for all help and direction.
