“Sorry Breeze Pleeze”, a happy ending

Here’s a post-Christmas guest entry from Dan Corcoran (b393capt), who wishes all a great holiday, as do I.

B393capt with Christmas sailboat tie

At the end of my last rant here on Panbo, I was resigned to spending my Christmas opening tie’s (see above) and eating fruitcake. The picture above is in fact me opening my first present of the evening, which as fate would have it, was a blue tie. (Thanks Mom!  It really is an exquisite tie, with impressive but subtle inlaid sailboat images that will compliment my best business suit.)  But there was nothing to be sad about. Breeze Pleeze did pretty well tonight.

First, there is a $300 check under my fingers that came with that tie, and due to some interesting comments provided by Panbo readers this week (Thanks awboater !), I have an idea how I might use that money to re-start my efforts to wire Breeze Pleeze with N2K. Perhaps I will use Maretron wiring products and just plan to “whack” any non-standard connectors off future component purchases as they occur. Well, at least I will research this approach and report back if I in fact proceed.

Second, although the marine electronics industry didn’t get any of my big Christmas dollars this season, Breeze Pleeze received an AWESOME set of performance main and genoa laminate sails from my wife and daughter. This is a dream come true, especially after being firmly pasted in all six sailboat races this season.

Given a choice between electronic gizmos and new sails, I would go with new sails every time.

  2. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Ben! Thanks for keeping Panbo up and running and hopefully 2008 will be smooth sailing.
