The ME survey, just two more days

Since announcing the marine electronics survey on Feb. 8, and showing a bit of data last week, nearly 800 boaters have taken the time to fill one out.  Thank you so much!  That’s a decent data set, I’m told, but 1,000 would be even better.  So, by way of encouragement, MTA has again done a little data digging, seen above and below…

The top graph shows buying plans, or the lack of them, in eleven general categories, and the bottom graph dives into the Communications category, showing all four choices.  (It’s good to see how many skippers have already adopted some form of AIS and how many more plan to; and maybe I should be paying more attention to SSB than I do.)  Correlating this investment category against the criteria question, MTA says that 56% of respondents cited reliability/durability/uptime as the most important aspect, while price was only most important to 5%.  There are hundreds  more ways to slice and dice the survey results, and thus help the industry know how to serve us better.  But why not add your two cents?  Please take the survey before Sunday night, when MTA will shut the door and get truly serious about the analysis.
