Paradox Marine security, Miami demos

Marine WatchMate is a boat security system that can include up to four cameras which can be monitored on board, on a computer ashore (via the Internet), or even on certain cell phones. The cameras can be IP based, or regular analog pushed through an A/D converter. The one I saw demoed in Miami, above, was analog and it worked fine, but apparently the IP cameras can even be panned and zoomed from your cell or PC. What a world…

WatchMate is just one security/monitoring product in Paradox Marine’s ever growing portfolio.  (In fact, the only such systems I can think of that are not put together or at least distributed by Paradox are Boatsense Solutions, Sea Key, and Maretron’s N2KView.)  At every show these guys seem to have some new system or add-on gadget. In Miami it was that non-lethal acoustic weapon being mugged over below. It could not be demoed because the sound supposedly makes people forget whatever they’re up to — be it stealing or reporting — and flee. I’m not sure if this gadget is a genuine LRAD (Long Range Acoustic Device), which seems specific to one manufacturer (and is well explained in this gCaptain video), but it certainly sounds related. It can be set up in your cockpit as an extension of a Paradox security system, or can be had on its own along with a motion detector and a remote control so you don’t get your own mind melted when you return to your boat.
