Lumishore Redefines Marine LEDs with Revolutionary Smart Lighting System

Innovator in LED Technology Announces the World’s First and Only Marine DC Smart Lighting System with Tunable Color and White Light for Enhanced On-Board Experience

Swansea, UK and Sarasota, FL – Lumishore, manufacturer of high-performance LED lighting systems, takes above water interior and exterior illumination to a new level with the introduction of its new Smart Lighting product line. Smart Lighting by Lumishore, which is the world’s first and only marine DC system with tunable color and white light, recently caught the attention of DAME judges, garnering a special mention in the Marine Electronics and Marine Related Software category at METSTRADE in Amsterdam.

Lumishore’s new range of Smart Lighting products can be controlled from a boat’s MFD or a user’s personal smart device. Lights that can be controlled include Lumishore’s underwater lights, marine-grade CRBGW downlights, mood lighting, and IP68 strip lights and accent lighting. In addition, a range of Smart Drivers enable integration with third-party approved products such as name boards and entertainment systems. Enhancing boat aesthetics for a variety of leisure and safety conditions, Smart Lighting LEDs are built with cold and warm white, as well as red, green and blue LEDs in each light allowing the system to create an infinite number of hues, customized to suit a particular mood or atmosphere.

At the heart of the innovative system is the compact Lumishore ‘Black Box’. Plug and play compatible with an MFD or Lumishore display via Ethernet cable, it does not use the bandwidth of the NMEA backbone and is easily upgraded with an SD card. Lumishore’s MFD partners include Garmin, Raymarine, Simrad and B&G, with others to follow.

The Lumishore interface panel features a simple-to-use palette wheel for color selection, horizontal slide bar for quick adjustments to lighting intensity, control of lighting across multiple zones with optional presets, and the ability to choose from pre-programmed effect modes like strobe, sweep or cycle. In addition, Lumishore’s unique ‘Sound-to-Light’ mode makes for the ultimate party accessory, pulsing lights to the beat of any song currently playing on an MFDs built-in media player. The white balance can be tuned for different functions such as reading, dining or simple waking up. The system has the capability to switch ambient mood lighting in specific zones or the entire vessel, through an intuitive drag and drop menu, as well as create lighting ‘scenes’ based on user preferences.

“Lumishore not only creates the finest LED lighting solutions on the market, we also create the atmosphere,” says Eifrion Evans, CEO of Lumishore. “As boats become more integrated, owners are looking for the same level of flexibility and value from their on-the-water lighting and entertainment systems as they get from the systems they have in their homes. Our Smart Lighting delivers by providing customers with the most features, an easy-to-use interface and a highly competitive price.”

Suitable for all marine 12- or 24-volt systems, the Lumishore Smart Lights are EMC compliant to the highest standards and IP67 rated for use in the harshest of marine environments. To learn more about Lumishore’s LED lighting and camera products visit lumishore.com.

I wrote about Lumishore’s “Smart Lighting System” in my METS preview…

…and it was looking even better in the show booth. The new Lumi-Link interface box that serves the HTML5 lighting interface to various MFD brands is now smaller, more flexible (works with every brand that offers support), and will apparently become a standard module in most all Lumishore systems (in other words, even their own dedicated control heads will work off the same command/interface code).

Also, all the new above-water lighting fixtures looked great, and note the line about “a range of Smart Drivers enable integration with third-party approved products such as name boards and entertainment systems.” No examples were being shown, but imagine, say, the LED lighting built into some speakers being able to join Smart Lighting “scenes” and/or a stereo control head able to also control some Smart Lighting.
