Panbo editor, publisher & chief bottlewasher from 4/2005 until 8/2018, and now pleased to have Ben Stein as a very able publisher, webmaster, and editing colleague. Please don't regard him as an "expert"; he's getting quite old and thinks that "fadiddling fumble-putz" is a more accurate description.

So Marlink is moving back into the yachting market for broadband data…

…and apparently they are also teaming up with e3 Systems.

It’s hard to get on the superyachts at FLIBS (if you are not a real player) but I might try to talk my way onto the “shadow yacht” Fast & Furious (though it’s actually one of the smaller models in the Yacht Support line):

742xs and 942xs are lacking some fishfinding functionality as well as other functions when compared to 76XXxsv. 742xs and 942xs don’t have internal sidescanning, they don’t have dual channel traditional CHIRP, support for external GSD modules are also lacking while external GCV is supported. The GRID controller and wireless remotes are not supported.

    Great write-up, Ben.
David Lang of OpenROV is an old friend of mine. I got to see the Trident a year ago at their shop in Berkeley. David is the real deal, and I’m really glad to hear you liked the Trident.
