ePropulsion Launches X40 Outboard Engine

    Going fast on the water using electric propulsion still remains pretty impractical in terms of range and hardware costs, but the systems are certainly getting better. This x40 has several features I haven’t seen before on an e-outboard, like integrated digital steering that supports ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) features. And I already know that I’ll be seeing several more e-propulsion advancements at METS.

      I’m in Fort Lauderdale for FLIBS and this morning before the show opened I took a demo ride on a boat equipped with an X40 motor. It seems reasonable to expect that electric powered boats will be nearly silent and smooth, but I’ve been on quite a few that aren’t. Not the X40, this was the quietest, smoothest electric powered boat I’ve been on yet. I took some video that I’ll get edited and posted soon.
