I have a tacktick wind tranducer and MN30 display. I also have an Airmar DST800 connected to a tacktick hull transmitter (this was bought as a package). This used to give me depth, speed, water temp etc.. on an MN100 dual display.

I lost the display sometime ago and wired up my DST800 direct to my Simrad NSS8 MFD for depth information.

Now that I've bought the Micro-talk (mainly to get wind information to my Raymarine Evolution autopilot), I'd like to use the Micro-talk to send depth information over NMEA2000 to the MFD, just like it does with wind data.

The snag is that it doesn't seem to be happening, or at least my Simrad MFD doesn't want to let me select the Micro-talk as the source for depth. Odd as it is selected for apparent wind, speed through water and few other things.

Any thoughts on what the issue here is?

So everything is on a NMEA 2000 network now, including the Simrad?

I assume you have forced it to re-scan the network for sources already? When you go in to look at the data sources for speed through water, it shows the DST800 correctly?

I had the DST800 and a Simrad MFD on my previous boat and don’t remember having any issues.

I think I might have gotten to the bottom of it.

As soon as I hooked it up I had log/speed and water temp immediately available on the MFD with the Micro-talk as the source.

Looking at the device in the MFD menus I see all the data the Micro-talk was spitting out. Depth was not one of them.

I added some wires and manually hooked it up to the transducer on the MFD (as I had previously been running) and all of a sudden I could hear the clicking of the depth sounder.

I think that despite what the Raymarine instructions say, it won't put out a depth signal unless hooked up to a display or something else that will request and interpret the data such as the NM30, MN100, perhaps only then will the Micro-talk pass on the depth information.
