Can anyone recommend an Airmar vs. Maretron for a fuel tank management system install? The BOM for Airmar is $400 less due to their offering a dual-chamber diesel flow meter DFM-120-DA . Maretron requires two meters, one for fuel supply and another for return. Both systems offer networking to an existing Garmin MFD via an existing N2K backbone. I am looking for advice on ease of programing, company technical support and over all performance.

I’ve used both systems and it mostly comes down to simplicity vs accuracy.

Airmar (DFM-120-DA) is easier to install since it uses a dual-chamber meter, so less plumbing and usually quicker setup. Good choice if you want a clean, straightforward install.

Maretron uses separate supply and return meters, which is more work but typically gives more accurate readings across different engine loads and conditions.

Both integrate well with Garmin over N2K. Maretron tends to offer more detailed configuration and slightly stronger support for troubleshooting, while Airmar is simpler and more “plug and play.”

If you want ease and lower cost, go Airmar. If you want maximum accuracy and flexibility, go Maretron.
