TZ iBoat 4 comes to Android with a redesigned navigation experience

TZ iBoat 4.0 is a major update, introducing a new design, a reimagined user experience, and enhancements to existing features.
June 2nd, 2026, Beaverton, Oregon — Nobletec today announced the release of TZ iBoat 4, a major update to its mobile navigation app, now available on Android for the first time. This update introduces a new design and a reimagined navigation experience, along with key features and enhancements designed to better support users at sea. The new design delivers a more intuitive and streamlined experience, allowing users to move seamlessly between dedicated screens, each tailored to a specific use. Enhancements to the Weather feature bring TZ iBoat 4 in line with leading solutions in the category. The update also introduces new capabilities and improvements across NMEA connectivity, latitude and longitude input, marina display on charts, and all-new subscription plans designed to help every user find the right set of features at the right price.
“This latest release of TZ iBoat marks a major milestone by extending full compatibility to Android and welcoming a new wave of boaters into the TimeZero ecosystem. At the same time, a fully redesigned and simplified interface delivers a more intuitive experience for users on both iOS and Android. Together, these improvements make sophisticated navigation tools more accessible to every boater, on any platform.” said Iker Pryszo, President, Nobeltec, inc.
Built for Android, rebuilt for everyone
For years, TZ iBoat was developed exclusively for iOS, an intentional decision aimed at establishing strong and reliable foundations on a single platform, one that was widely adopted within the yachting community. As its user base grew, however, it became increasingly clear that a portion of that community remained beyond reach, making broader accessibility a logical next step.
The arrival of TZ iBoat on Android is not merely a platform expansion, but a meaningful evolution of the product itself. Rather than adapting the existing application, the teams undertook a complete rebuild. A new architecture was conceived from the ground up, supported by a redesigned graphics engine and modern development technologies. Each component was carefully reconsidered to enable a more scalable and consistent experience. This transformation brought together teams across Portland, Bidart, and Barcelona, resulting in a deeply reengineered application.
“With Android, we are reaching a new milestone: making our solution accessible to everyone.” Said Sebastien Muhr, Lead Developer. “This launch is the result of intense work, with teams rethinking both the core of the application and the entire user experience. This momentum pushed us further, leading to a fully redesigned interface driven by a strong creative ambition.”
These new foundations enabled a full redesign of the interface, with a clearer, more focused approach to navigation. Prior to release, TZ iBoat 4 was tested extensively in real-world conditions by a global group of users, including sailors, motor boaters, and sportfishing enthusiasts. Used across a wide variety of environments, both at sea and in port, the app was refined through continuous, hands-on feedback. The result is a version that arrives both new and mature, shaped from the outset by real-world use. With its release on Android, TZ iBoat 4 expands its reach while delivering a unified and consistent navigation experience across platforms.

New subscription plans and annual options
TZ iBoat 4 introduces annual subscriptions across plans, designed to lower the effective cost for users who prefer paying once a year after telling us the monthly format felt too expensive. Annual plans offer ~30% savings vs paying monthly, while keeping monthly options available.
The new structure follows a clear progression (each plan includes the previous one) and is available in the “Plans” section of the in-app Store.
Essential ($2.99/month or $24.99/year): onboard instrument connection, live AIS display (TZ Online AIS worldwide), and autopilot integration via Wi-Fi NMEA (TCP/UDP).
Premium ($9.99/month or $84.99/year): Essential + advanced weather (high-resolution forecasts, Rain Radar, multiple models, comparison, offline). This plan replaces previous Premium Weather subscriptions.
SportFishing ($39.99/month or $334.99/year): Premium + ocean layers (SST, Chlorophyll, SSH, Currents, Bathymetry with compatible charts).
Even without a paid subscription, users keep core features for free, including Anchor Watch, the basic weather model, offline weather access, Trip management, and Smart Search.

I’m a longtime fan of the TimeZero family, and was also one of the many beta testers for the new Android version of iBoat. I was impressed with how quickly they developed a stable version of the app for a different platform and then spent at least a year redesigning iBoat for both operating systems.
