I’m currently upgrading my console on a 30’ Pursuit with a marlin tower from an older Sitex Colormax11 chartplotter to either one or two Raymarine Axiom+12 RV MFD(s), installing along the way a new Raymarine GPS150 antenna/receiver, a new bShakespeare 5225XT antenna and new VHF radio. I like the capabilities of the GX6000 (option to rear mount mic, AIS receiver, hailer and 2nd remote mic options). I plan on connecting the radio to the chartplotter via a newly installed NMEA backbone and have been researching any issues it may have had before purchasing. The latest information I’ve been able to find is an issue the Raymarine forum had tracked with problems the Standard Horizon GX6000 VHF radio had establishing and maintaining connection to the Axiom MFD over NMEA2000 for GPS data. Latest post on thread was dated 05/08/2019 with no resolution listed.
Here is thread’s link:

Interested in feedback from individuals using the GX6000 and if anyone has any knowledge of whether this issue was eventually resolved and if so what the solution was? I’ve queried the Standard Horizon as well as the Raymarine support sites requesting information also. I am about to start installation of my new Axiom+12 RV MFD and purchase the GX6000.

Other VHF radio options I looked at where the Icom 506 Rear Mic and the Ray63.

The Standard Horizon appears to provide alot of options for the money.

I’d like to report that I just received an encouraging response from Standard Horizon to the issue I outlined in the thread. I’ve posted their response below:

”Hi Paul,

Thanks for the email.

Please note we have had a few software updates in 2019 that have resolved all NMEA2000 interface issues that we are aware of.

There should not be any problems interfacing the GX6000 into the Raymarine Axiom series MFD’s.

Everything that has shipped starting in early 2020 has the most recent software version 2.00.06.”
